The delicate foliage on this stunning, upright tree looks more like fern fronds than typical Hinoki branches. Each arching, rich green branch tapers to a fine point, instead of the more usual cupped tip. Chamaecyparis obtusa ‘Filicoides Compacta’ will develop a handsome, open habit, and will stand out as a focal point or combine nicely in an evergreen screen. If desired, judicious pruning encourages a more compact shape. Grow in moist, well-drained soil in full sun or light shade.
