What You Will Receive: Set of (5) Thriving Plants in 1-Gallon Pots

Festuca glauca 'Elijah Blue' is the perennial grass that's basically the silver fox of the plant world—powdery ice-blue foliage so intensely colored it looks like Mother Nature dusted it with frost from a fairy tale. Fine, needle-like blades form perfect porcupine-perfect hemispheres that glow ethereally in sunlight, holding that stunning cool tone year-round with only subtle buff highlights in winter. In early summer, delicate wheat-colored flower spikes rise just above the mound like polite little flags, adding airy texture without stealing the show from the star foliage.

Homeowners can't resist its endless charm: mass it for a shimmering groundcover that suppresses weeds like a boss, edge paths or borders for crisp definition, pop it into rock gardens for alpine vibes, tuck into containers for patio punch, mix with bold perennials for contrast (think hot pinks or deep purples popping against the blue), or use as a low-maintenance front-row filler that ties everything together without ever sprawling.

Thriving in full sun (light shade tolerated but expect slightly greener tones), it forms tidy 8-12 inch tall and wide mounds—compact enough for small spaces yet impactful in groups. Extremely drought-tolerant once established (practically laughs at dry spells), heat-loving, deer-resistant, and ultra-low-maintenance in well-drained soil. Minimal pollinator draw (flowers are subtle), but birds enjoy occasional seeds. In zone 6a Indiana, this hardy perennial (zones 4-8) delivers effortless, four-season cool elegance.
